About the Signers

David Lee "Tex" Hill was one of the most celebrated pilots of the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers) and later served with distinction in the United States Army Air Forces. His combat success and leadership made him one of America's most respected fighter aces.

Charles R. "Charlie" Bond, Jr. served as a fighter pilot with the Flying Tigers and later continued his distinguished military career in the United States Air Force. Bond became one of the few aviators to achieve ace status in both World War II and the Korean War.

Edward "Ed" Rector was among the original Flying Tigers who defended China against Japanese air attacks. As one of the AVG's accomplished fighter pilots, Rector played an important role in establishing the legendary reputation of the unit during the opening years of the Pacific War.
