Rear Admiral Roy "Butch" Voris (1922-2005) was a distinguished United States Navy aviator, combat veteran, and aviation pioneer best known as the first commanding officer and leader of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's world-famous flight demonstration squadron.
A veteran of World War II, Voris flew combat missions in the Pacific Theater before being selected in 1946 to organize and lead a new demonstration team designed to showcase the professionalism and capabilities of Naval Aviation. Under his leadership, the Blue Angels quickly became one of the most recognized aerial demonstration teams in the world.
