About Francis "Gabby" Gabreski

Colonel Francis "Gabby" Gabreski (1919-2002) was one of the most accomplished fighter pilots in American military history. During World War II, Gabreski became the leading American fighter ace in the European Theater, earning widespread recognition for his combat achievements while flying the legendary P-47 Thunderbolt.

Following World War II, Gabreski returned to combat during the Korean War, where he added additional aerial victories while flying jet aircraft. His success in both propeller-driven and jet-powered combat aircraft placed him among an elite group of aviators whose accomplishments spanned two major conflicts.

Credited with 34½ aerial victories during his distinguished career, Gabreski remains one of the highest-scoring American fighter aces of all time. Today, his autographs remain highly sought after by collectors of World War II aviation memorabilia, fighter ace collectibles, P-47 Thunderbolt history, Korean War aviation artifacts, United States Air Force memorabilia, and military aviation autographs.
