About Frank Borman

Frank Borman (1928-2023) was a United States Air Force officer, test pilot, NASA astronaut, and one of the most influential figures of the Space Race. He first flew in space aboard Gemini 7 before commanding the historic Apollo 8 mission in December 1968.

Under Borman's leadership, Apollo 8 became the first crewed spacecraft to leave Earth orbit, travel to the Moon, orbit the Moon, and safely return to Earth. The mission's famous Christmas Eve broadcast from lunar orbit captivated millions around the world and marked a major milestone in the history of human space exploration.
