About Charles McGee

Colonel Charles E. McGee (1919-2022) was one of America's most respected military aviators and a distinguished member of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American military pilots in United States Army Air Forces history.

During World War II, McGee flew combat missions with the famed 332nd Fighter Group, helping establish the remarkable combat record that made the Tuskegee Airmen one of the most celebrated units in military aviation history. Over a military career spanning more than three decades, McGee flew an extraordinary 409 combat missions during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

His service, leadership, and dedication earned him numerous military honors and widespread recognition as one of the most influential figures in American aviation history. In 2022, McGee was honored by the United States Congress and recognized nationally for his contributions to military service and aviation.
