About Steve Ritchie

General Steve Ritchie is one of the most celebrated fighter pilots in United States Air Force history and is best known as the first U.S. Air Force ace of the Vietnam War. Flying the legendary McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, Ritchie achieved five confirmed aerial victories against North Vietnamese MiG fighters during combat operations over Southeast Asia.

His accomplishments during Operation Linebacker and other major air campaigns established him as one of the premier fighter pilots of the conflict. Ritchie's combat success helped restore the proud tradition of American fighter aces and earned him widespread recognition throughout the military aviation community.

Following his combat service, Ritchie continued his distinguished Air Force career, eventually attaining the rank of General.
