This beautiful artwork was created by renowned aviation artist Stan Stokes and commemorates one of the most remarkable aerial combat engagements of the Korean War. The unframed print measures approximately 11.5" x 16" and has been hand signed by Royce Williams.

About Royce Williams

Captain Royce Williams (1925-2025) was a United States Navy fighter pilot whose extraordinary combat actions during the Korean War remained classified for decades. On November 18, 1952, while flying an F9F Panther, Williams engaged a formation of Soviet-built MiG-15 fighters over the Sea of Japan in one of the most remarkable air battles in American military aviation history.

Despite being heavily outnumbered, Williams successfully fought against multiple enemy aircraft and returned safely despite sustaining significant battle damage. Because Soviet involvement in the conflict remained politically sensitive at the time, details of the engagement were not publicly known for many years.

As the full story emerged, Williams' actions received widespread recognition as one of the greatest aerial combat achievements of the Korean War era. In recognition of his extraordinary heroism and courage, he was ultimately awarded the Medal of Honor, the United States' highest military decoration.
