About Robin Olds

Brigadier General Robin Olds (1922-2007) was one of the most celebrated fighter pilots in American military history. A combat veteran of both World War II and the Vietnam War, Olds became one of the few American aviators to achieve triple ace status, earning a combined total of 16 aerial victories during his distinguished combat career.

During World War II, Olds flew the P-38 Lightning and P-51 Mustang, achieving success against German aircraft in the European Theater. He later became a legendary commander during the Vietnam War while leading the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing and flying the F-4 Phantom II.

Olds is perhaps best known for masterminding Operation Bolo, one of the most successful aerial deception operations in military aviation history. The mission resulted in significant enemy losses and remains a classic example of tactical innovation and leadership.
