About Richard E. Cole

Lieutenant Colonel Richard E. Cole served as Jimmy Doolittle's co-pilot aboard Aircraft No. 1 during the historic Tokyo Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942.

Launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, the sixteen B-25 Mitchell bombers carried out the first American air attack against the Japanese home islands following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
