About Lee Archer Jr.

Lee Archer Jr. (1919-2010) was one of the most accomplished fighter pilots of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. Flying combat missions with the renowned 332nd Fighter Group, Archer distinguished himself as one of the most successful African American fighter pilots of the war.

Flying aircraft such as the P-51 Mustang, Archer was credited with multiple aerial victories over enemy aircraft while escorting Allied bombers across Europe. Many historians believe he achieved enough victories to be considered one of the Tuskegee Airmen's top fighter aces. His combat record, leadership, and contributions to military aviation history helped cement the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and their role in breaking racial barriers within the United States Armed Forces.
