About Hans Wind

Hans Wind (1919-1995) was one of Finland's most accomplished fighter pilots and one of the highest-scoring aces of World War II. Serving in the Finnish Air Force, Wind achieved an impressive 75 confirmed aerial victories, earning recognition as one of the most successful combat aviators in Finnish military history.

During the war, Wind flew several notable aircraft types, including the Brewster B-239 Buffalo, where he earned many of his victories against Soviet aircraft. His exceptional flying skill, marksmanship, and combat leadership helped establish him as one of Finland's elite fighter pilots during the Continuation War.

For his extraordinary combat achievements, Wind was awarded the prestigious Mannerheim Cross, Finland's highest military decoration.
