About Douglas Campbell

Douglas Campbell (1896-1990) was a pioneering American military aviator and one of the first United States fighter aces of World War I. Serving with the 94th Aero Squadron of the United States Army Air Service, Campbell achieved several aerial victories during combat operations over the Western Front.

Campbell is best remembered as one of the first American pilots to score aerial victories while serving in a U.S.-commanded combat unit during the First World War. His accomplishments helped establish the reputation of American military aviation and secured his place among the early pioneers of aerial warfare.
