About Bram van der Stok

Wing Commander Bram van der Stok (1915-1993) was a distinguished Dutch fighter pilot, Royal Air Force officer, and one of the most famous escapees of World War II. After the German occupation of the Netherlands, van der Stok escaped to Britain and joined the Royal Air Force, where he flew combat missions in the legendary Supermarine Spitfire.

During the war, van der Stok was shot down and captured by German forces, eventually becoming a prisoner at Stalag Luft III. He later participated in the historic Great Escape of March 1944, one of the most daring prisoner-of-war escape attempts in military history.

Unlike most escapees, van der Stok successfully evaded recapture and ultimately reached Allied territory, becoming one of only three men from the Great Escape to regain freedom. Following the war, he continued his distinguished career and remained an important figure in aviation and military history.

Today, Bram van der Stok autographs remain highly sought after by collectors of Great Escape memorabilia, Royal Air Force history, Supermarine Spitfire collectibles, World War II aviation artifacts, POW history, and historical military autographs.
